Kilter's Car

My son has his own car now. Scary isn't it. He is 15 1/2 right now. His birthday is in July. I recommend you all stay off the roads in Glendale after that.

Not really. I'm kidding about staying off the roads. He really is an OK driver. He has his permit and has been driving quite alot.

His car is a 1991 Toyota Camry. The car is older than he is. We bought it for $850 (the kid paid $450) from a lady in Tempe who was too old to drive it anymore. It seems to be well maintined. New tires, clean interior, no dents. All-in-all the car looks solid and I think it was a good buy.

It's an easy car to drive with automatic, power windows and doors, and working AC (an absolute must in this city).

Don't worry, he's not getting off easy. While he is learning to drive I am also making him learn to drive my 5spd Kia Sorento. He hates the clutch but I think it's is easier to learn now than later.

He has already put a stereo in his car. It was an inexpensive stereo from Target but it is cool because it has a USB port. He loads up his flash drive with music and never needs a CD. I wish they had that kind of thing when I got my first car. I had to be satisfied with the good ole cassette player.

I'm really proud of him for saving up money to put toward his car. It is a strange thing for a parent when your child starts driving. I don't know how to explain it but I have this feeling of no turning back.

Well like I always like to say, it is what it is.
